# Rose Gum

A two-storey timber cabin on sixteen acres of remnant rainforest and gardens, with the lake at the foot of the balcony.

Rose Gum is one of three two-storey cabins on the property. The bedroom sits upstairs with a king bed; the bathroom and living are below. A sofa bed in the lounge sleeps up to two more.

The upstairs balcony looks west across the spring-fed lake to the gardens beyond. At first light the birds usually start the chorus, kookaburras following a beat later. The downstairs patio carries the hooded BBQ and an outdoor setting for evening meals.

The kitchen is fully self-contained for a longer stay: stovetop, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster, plus dining for the family. There is no oven; the BBQ outside does the heavy lifting. Hardwood floors throughout; ceiling fans and reverse-cycle air conditioning for the warmer months.

## The cabin *up close*.

A two-storey self-contained Montville cabin with upstairs sleeping, downstairs living, private BBQ patio, lake outlook.

> A two-storey cabin built for a family that wants the cabin felt, not heard.

## The morning

A continental hamper is stocked in the cabin for the length of your stay: cereals, bread, butter, jams, juice, milk. Each morning Michael delivers fresh croissants to the door. Coffee from the kitchen, taken on the patio.

## The evening

Welcome chocolates wait on the kitchen bench. From April to September, firewood is supplied for the slow-combustion fireplace; light it from the basket beside the hearth and run the spa bath deep. The possums usually come down to the lawn around dusk.

## Beyond the cabin

Kondalilla National Park starts on the property boundary; the trailhead to the falls is a short walk. Montville village is a five-minute drive for cafés, galleries and the historic clock shop. Maleny and Mapleton sit a little further along the ridge.
