Over-50s midweek getaways at Montville Country Cabins

A midweek package for guests aged 50 and over, designed around the parts of a Montville stay that already work well at a slower pace. Available Sunday through Friday, with a hot breakfast upgrade and the standard run of inclusions across the cabins.

What’s different about the over-50s package

  • Hot breakfast upgrade included. Standard breakfast hamper plus eggs, bacon, sausages and mushrooms, ready to cook in your cabin kitchen.
  • Midweek-only. Sunday to Friday. Quieter property, quieter villages, easier parking everywhere.
  • Multi-night stay structure, similar to the stay-3-pay-2 deal; more time to settle in.
  • Identification confirming age 50+ required at check-in (driver’s licence works).

The standard inclusions

The package layers on the standard run of inclusions at the cabins:

  • Continental breakfast hamper stocked for the full stay (Maleny bread, yoghurt, juice, seasonal fruit, jams)
  • Hot croissants delivered to the door at 8 am every morning by Michael
  • Welcome cheese platter on arrival
  • Chocolates and port to mark the evening
  • Wood fireplace with firewood supplied April through September
  • King-size spa bath with a bushland outlook
  • Private cabin, private balcony, hooded BBQ
Spa bath beside a large window overlooking rainforest

A typical midweek stay

The days fall into a pattern fairly quickly. Croissants on the verandah. A morning walk on the Picnic Creek Circuit in Kondalilla, or further along to the falls if the legs and the weather agree. Back to the cabin for the spa bath. A drive into Maleny for Maleny Cheese and a coffee, or up to Mapleton Falls for the easy Wompoo Circuit. Hot dinner hamper delivered to the cabin, fireplace lit. Birds in the canopy, possums after dark.

Why midweek suits this stay

The cabins are quietest Monday through Thursday. Mary Cairncross and the Maleny Botanic Gardens both run quieter midweek; the local cafés have room to sit and read; the range roads are clearer. The village shops in Montville and Maleny keep regular weekday hours, and Kenilworth Dairies is open daily.

The trade-off is that some smaller venues run reduced hours midweek; the Mapleton Public House and Flame Hill Vineyard both open only later in the week, so check what’s open before you set your itinerary.

Add-ons that work well

The same in-cabin extras apply: BBQ packs, hot dinner hampers cooked by Michael, mini-bar wines, in-cabin massage. The hampers in particular suit the package; fewer trips out at night, more time on the verandah.

Choosing a cabin

Five couples cottages, three two-storey family cabins, one studio. The over-50s package is most often booked in the couples cottages (Cuddle Pie, Snuggle Pot, Harmony, Peace or Seclusion) for the king bed, the private patio and the rainforest outlook from the spa. Silky Oak is the studio alternative, with a queen bed and a lake view.
